The Enemy We Face
I just read a fantastic summary of the war we are now in. This is the war on terror that began, from our point of view anyway, on September 11, 2001. Through our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan the long term goals of those who would do us harm have been discovered. While I like to think that their plans have been disrupted quite a bit, reading this article makes me appreciate the sacrifice being made by the men and woman in uniform today. They are bringing the fight to the enemy, in a big way.

Ice Shelf Collapses…Its All Our Fault!
We now have an ice cube floating in the ocean between Canada and Greenland. The enviros are going nuttier than usual.
It was such a HUGE event they say….so big in fact that they noticed it a mere 17 months after it happened.
Maybe thats why New Orleans flooded?
Here is a satellite picture that shows the 'devastation'.

Ms Nevada Before and After
Before (she is the one in the middle)
I don’t know…how much makeup did she put on in that after picture? And not an inch of skin? Paaaalease.
One bad decision can ruin a great deal. This is a lesson I try and teach my kids all the time. The lucky thing is, you can normally spot a bad decision from a mile away. Clearly Ms Nevada could not.
You blew it Ms Nevada. Perhaps Girls Gone Wild needs a few extras.
This is What We Endured Here in New Jersey Last Year
Well lets see….
If you voted dem, this is what you got last year
First and foremost there was this tremendous battle over taxes…not whether we should raise them, but by how much (!!). With the Dems in control of all branches of government here in NJ, all but essential services were shut down for about a week near the fourth of July weekend because they could not agree on how much they should raise our taxes. They did raise our sales tax by 1%, all to feed an ever growing, freedom reducing bureaucracy in Trenton. They promised to reduce property taxes, but mine went up….again.
Then we get the Supreme Court telling the legislature that they need to get gay marriage legal, well just because they say so. The pro family Dems then grant all rights to gay couples as they do married couples, but they don’t call it marriage, they call it ‘civil unions’. Are you now aware that gay couples can now adopt children in NJ? Now I want you to think about who seems to always be caught molesting children. Think of the scandals rocking the Catholic Church (gay priests chasing after teenage boys). Think of who Mark Foley was chasing after (male teenage pages). Yeah….its a real good idea to let homosexuals adopt children.
Then we have Governor Corzine, in a slap to both fiscal responsibility and also to medical ethics, approved 270 million for stem cell research here in NJ. That lab down the street might be doing some real interesting experiments with human beings, and yet my property taxes are still sky high!
For Christmas we are given a heads up that the Dems are now seeking to force every individual in New jersey to have health insurance....like that idea worked so well for car insurance. This will cost the taxpayers a lowball estimate of an additional 1.7 billion....for the first year alone. If you think that HMO's are bad, just wait until you get a load of the rules under a state run health insurance system.
So to those of you who vote Democratic…this is what you voted for. Many of you vote Democratic because you were brought up to believe that the Dems were the ‘working mans party’, yet if you just look at what is happening you should see that the Dems are systematically destroying the very fabric of society here in NJ.
Blue State Syndrome....its bad for you and its bad for your family.
Its All About The Timing
A quote by Jay Leno (sent by a friend):
"With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu and terrorist attacks,"Are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?"

The Christmas Culture Wars
I don't know who originally wrote this, but I had to share it. It came to me as a fwd in an e-mail so I cannottake credit for a word, but it is very funny.
For my Democrat friends - Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.
By accepting these greetings, you are accepting the aforementioned terms as stated. This greeting is not subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself/himself/others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.
For My Republican Friends Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We Got Another One
Chalk one up for the good guys
"A top Taliban military commander described as a close associate of Usama bin Laden and Taliban leader Mullah Omar was killed in an airstrike this week close to the border with Pakistan, the U.S. military said Saturday."
I loved this quote (emphasis is mine)
"He was a top commander of Taliban operations in the south and now he's no more."
God bless the military.
I knew a few guys from Lockheed Martin, and were discussing one day the results of a successful airstrike against a now dead terrorist using one of the missiles they build, and as they were reading the news report it said that "the target was identified as .....". They then quipped...."Identified? The missile must have missed."

Al Qaeda Wins the November Elections!
Perhaps this will unite us as Americans.
"In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri,
made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for
American Democrats.Listen up libs....they will kill you just as fast as they will kill conservatives......although they will probably kill you first because you probably won't be armed. ;)
The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections,
nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen --
the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who
won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who
The Duke Rape...err I Mean I'm Not Sure it Was Rape...Case
So as it turns out the stripper cannot remember if she was actually raped, and since they did not find any DNA evidence linking those charged with the rape (although they found all kinds of other DNA from other unknown males...and the prosecution withheld that evidence from the defense team) the DA (who is looking REALLY bad) has dropped the rape charges. Other charges remain, but at this point its looking bad for the prosecution's 'case'.
There are so many things to write about here, but the one thing that must be said is this.
Stuff like this can happen to you when you exhibit bad judgement.
The legal bills these students and their families are facing must be astonishing. Their lives, and their parents lives, have been forever altered.
Just because they were there to watch a stripper.
Was it worth it?

It Takes A Great Civilization To Build Things
Some good news today....
Visible progess is being made in New York City where they have begun to rebuild the World Trade Center area.
Its easy to destroy something, but it takes a great civilization to build great things.

Go BIG in Iraq
Finally I am beginning to see some positive news come out of Washington.
If you want to see an interesting powerpoint presentation, one that was shown to the highest levels of our government (President Bush) check this one out from Frederick Kagan.
What is so refreshing about the presentation, is that it states the simple truth about war. Go in with overwhelming force, crush your enemies, and give the majority of Iraqi citizens a chance to live in peace.
He is proposing that we 'go big' in Iraq. Go big means a dramatic increase in the number of troops with a specific objective…providing security for the Iraqi people so they can stand on their own two feet. We, as Americans, must support this effort.
Some interesting quotes….
"Success requires effort and will, but we need not choose to lose"
"It does not require unacceptable bargains with hostile regimes"
"Political solutions must accompany this effort, but security is the essential precondition for any forward progress in Iraq"
"Withdrawal will not end the pain. America will likely have to re-engage within a few years on much worse terms"
"Vital to provide strategic options in many scenarios beyond Iraq" (Iran, are you listening?...I added that for emphasis)
America…we are at war. War is not something that provides you entertainment or something to discuss at Starbucks. War is one of those things you must unequivocally win. It is time for us, as a nation, to realize we are indeed at war.
Do not talk to Iran. Do not talk to Syria. Crush their proxies in Iraq and then tell them how they will behave in the future or face similar consequences.
It is time to go big in Iraq.

Mark Foley Wants to Live in NJ
Just before the elections there was this big stink about a certain Republican named Mark Foley who sent suggestive e-mails and instant messages to male teenage pages. Of course Mark Foley is gay.
and the uproar that ensued.....
No worries Mark, you can move to NJ where gay 'couples' have the ability to enter into 'Civil Unions'.
As a result of this law, Mark Foley can then adopt his very own teenager because he now has the right to do that here in this Blue State.
From the above article
Among the benefits gay couples would get under New Jersey's civil unions bill are adoption rights...."Just think.....his own personal plaything. I am sure he would teach the child all the right emoticons.
I am just disgusted.

Peter Boyle Was A Funny Guy
I was saddened to hear that Peter Boyle died today. I loved to watch Everyone Loves Raymond and he was just terrific in that show.
Nice job Peter. I hope you have a comfy chair in your new home.
FYI: Incoming Democratic Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Silvestre Reyes, a person with alot of responsibility in this day and age, is unable to answer simple questions about our enemies.
replied Mr Reyes. “Why do you ask me these questions at five o’clock? Can I answer in Spanish? Do you speak Spanish?” Go ahead, said Stein. “Well, I, uh . . .” said the congressman.
Gives you a warm fuzzy doesn't it?
Send a Card to Someone Fighting the War
As I sit here at 10:20 PM, getting ready for bed I am reminded of a quote I saw for the first time the other day....
"We sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm us."
Here is a simple way to say thank you.
These folks,in conjunction with Xerox, will be printing these cards (designed by kids....and they are looking for more designs) and sending them to soldiers fighting for you and your family.
It doesn't get any simpler than this.

What They Teach THEIR Children
Living in a Blue State, most parents are squeamish about guns. For example when parents, particularly mothers, find out that at Boy Scout Camp they teach young boys to safely shoot a gun, more than one mother has voiced her displeasure.
I think though that once you get 100 miles west of here, that attitude changes. Guns are just a way of life, no big deal, and shooting a gun is a necessary skill taught at a young age.
Good thing to.
Look what our enemies teach THEIR children.
Like, You Know.....Who Like Really....Cares?
Headline news today.....
Another Hollywood star caught drunk driving.
I guess life isn't so simple.
....Or maybe she needed to get in front of the cameras because some other Hollywood brats were in the news recently.
The big question though is....how is it that this is even news?

Dumb Is What Dumb Does
Do you remember the congressman who stuffed wads of hundred dollar bills in bribe money in his freezer?
Well he was just re-elected in a Democratic runoff.
Kind of reminds me of NJ politics. Where we had serious ethical breaches by McGreevey, Torricelli and Mendendez yet the Democrats keep voting for them for some unknown reason.
Voting for Dems unconditionally is a definite symptom of Blue State Syndrome.
It’s The Cows Fault
The environuts have a new villain….the cow, but deep down I still think they are still annoyed about the human beings.
“The report concludes that, unless drastic changes are made, the massive damage done by livestock will more than double by 2050, as demand for meat increases.”
So you see, it’s the human beings who are really at fault, because we have to, you know, eat.

Appeasement Party is At It Again
I wonder how many people would have voted Democratic last November if this story were true?
"The political advisor of the Palestinian Prime Minister, Dr Ahmad Yousif, has confirmed the news about Hamas officials having met with high-ranking American figures, especially members of the Democratic party."
I wonder what deal they made? How many Americans will die at the altar of liberal appeasement?
Appeasement is a definite symptom of Blue State Syndrome.
Iraq “Study” Group
I have been following with some trepidation the news stories regarding the Iraq Study Group, and I think these people need to go back to school.
I have to say I am not impressed.
We went to Iraq to ensure the Hussein would not threaten us with WMD’s, and guess what, we did that.
Now ‘victory’ means we have to get two groups of people who have hated each other for generations to somehow stop doing that? No we don’t. We have to stay long enough so that their government can control the violence and not a minute more. We cannot however just leave.
We certainly do not need to engage Iran and Syria in any sort of dialog. Syria is assassinating any and all moderate politicians in Lebanon, and Hezbollah (Iranian sponsored terror organization), just lobbed thousands of rockets at Israel causing a war that devastated Lebanon. The leader of Iran as much as said he wants to eliminate Israel and the United States. Iran is actively chasing after nuclear weapons. They have threatened us with annihilation.
What do you think this picture means? This was a slide taken from a rally that the President of Iran was speaking at.
We do not need to talk to these people, except to say that if they do not knock it off they will be on the wrong end of Shock and Awe.

Presidential Aspirant Conspiracy Theories
Back in 2000, I seem to remember that our current president was almost pre-chosen by the Republican Party. Except for McCain, all of the other contenders, including some solid conservatives, just melted as nearly all of the big money went for GWB early and often. Yes I voted for him…twice….but I always wondered exactly how a large field of capable candidates was whittled down to two, and then down to one in a period of a couple weeks.
Was GWB, in effect, picked to be the Republican nominee by a group of people we will never know. (Insert x-files music)? Let’s see if the pattern repeats itself in the ‘upcoming elections’, which are, after all just 23 months away!

The "Upcoming" Elections
Here it is, just 23 months away from the next elections. ....
The one thing that struck me about the news today were the number of stories about the 2008 elections. Who announced they would run. Who announced they would not.
Its like setting up Christmas ornaments in February.

Associated (With Terrorists) Press
Here is a tidbit of information you might not have heard about listening to ABC/CBS/NBC/MSNBC/CNN (collectively called the MSM)
It seems that the Associated Press has been accepting patently false stories and publishing them as truth to anyone who might listen…which is most of the world.
You might remember a story over the Thanksgiving weekend about some Sunni muslims being burned alive by some Shiite muslims as they left their mosque. Well, as it turns out the source of the story was a fake, and the incident did not happen
A number of bloggers have been chasing after the story. Taking the lead was floppingaces.
Michelle Malkin has been posting a number of stories about this over the last week.
Finally there is a nice summary of the issue up at the Boston Herald.
Just because it is in the paper, doesn’t mean it is true.

Remember The Warriors
Find a family that has a son/daughter in the military and send that warrior something once a month. These warriors should not want for anything. I am told that phone cards are good things to send.
If you do not know a family that has a son/daughter serving in the military, there are numerous organizations that will put together a package for you and send it to a soldier guaranteed. A quick search on the internet revealed no lack of ways to get stuff from here to there:
A War Without Shared Sacrifice
We are a country at war, yet our leaders have not asked much from us as a country in shared sacrifice. Yes we are paying billions, and financing that with debt which we will pay over time, but in the day to day of our life in America, not a lot is required of us.
Surely the families of those in the Middle East or elsewhere know sacrifice, anguish, and pain, but most Americans are just going about their business, grumbling about gas prices, and basically just going on with life. Somehow, there is something wrong with this. We are in the beginning stages of a struggle that is going to affect each and every one of us sooner or later.
One of the first things we should do is reduce our consumption of foreign oil by a ludicrous amount. Imagine if each American used 10% less fuel each week. In my case that’s about not driving just 30 miles. The immediate effect would be an amazing drop in the price of gas and that price drop would give us a cushion when the price spikes in response to any future conflicts in the Middle East. Small, optional, sacrifices now will lessen the sting of big, mandatory, sacrifices later. It is like storing grain in a silo.
For motivation….just think that every time you put gas in the tank, Osama Bin Laden himself gets a percentage of what you pay.

Shamu The Killer Whale
Well I guess its not really Shamu. Apparently Shamu is a brand name, and there are a half dozen or so killer whales at each Sea World that entertain us with amazing leaps, and big splashes. They look soooo cute. They are adorable, intelligent creatures. They understand us. We understand them. All is right and good in the world.
Well apparently Shamu has teethe. I find it odd that there have not been any decent videos of the whale dunking the trainer…..but I did find an interesting video of a killer whale in action. Here you see a killer whale attacking, well actually eating, seals on a beach. This is what killer whales DO for a living when not thrilling us at Sea World.
I remember watching Free Willy with my oldest son when he was younger. Right after the whale made that tremendous leap over the jetty, and everyone was happy, I said to myself….we should now watch Orca for balance.
Reading the press accounts of the story was also amusing. The lead trainer at Sea World, a Mr Scarpuzzi, deserves an Oscar for keeping a straight face while uttering these words:
“"His skills and techniques and close relationship with the whale played a major role in helping the animal calm down and allowed him to eventually swim out of the pool," Scarpuzzi said.
I think, in English that means the whale let go.
Or perhaps neoprene, or whatever wet suits are made of these days, probably didn't taste very good.
As always, I am your Gracious Host
